The courtyard garden of Solidaris' new headquarters is located in the historic Bond Moyson building on the ‘Vrijdagmarkt’ in Ghent. The inner garden represents a unique hidden green gem in the city centre and an attractive access square for Solidaris' visitors and employees. Visitors enter between trees and shrubs in gently sloping plant beds. A passageway connects to a terrace overlooking the Lys. The project anchors itself in the blue-green structure of the city centre and brings fresh air and green in the mineral environment. For the paving, a natural stone is chosen that matches the historical architectural elements of the building. the specific growing conditions and microclimate resulted in deliberate plant selection. The patio garden is fully subterranean and includes between 50cm and 1m of substrate.
