Within the Provincial Domain of Kessel-Lo, we are collaborating with GAFPA, Polyplan, Deltalab and Stabico to create a new natural swimming facility for a wide range of users, including families, children and swimming clubs. Moving away from conventional chlorinated pools, the project embraces a nature-based water purification system in which reed beds and wetland vegetation naturally filter and maintain the water quality.
The swimming area will include a paddling pool for young children alongside a 25-metre swimming pool. Generous sunbathing lawns with a variety of shaded areas will provide comfortable spaces for relaxation and recreation.
All supporting facilities are accommodated within a 127-metre-long timber building designed by GAFPA. The existing amphitheatre is preserved as a key element of the entrance square, where a large bioswale captures, stores and infiltrates rainwater, contributing to the site's climate-adaptive water management strategy.
